THREADS OF LIFE

Ancient Egyptian Linen Exhibition

About

‘Threads of Life’ is an online exhibition exploring the integral role of linen in the historical and cultural life of Egyptians—from agriculture to spinning, weaving, dress, mummification, and rituals of the afterlife. This project critically examines how the use of linen has evolved over time, positioning flax as a cultural phenomenon that adapts across periods and places. Objects within the exhibition have been thoroughly analyzed to provide audiences with an engaging, in-depth understanding of linen’s significance.
